The Glazerβs plan to sell Manchester United emerged back in November of 2022.
βManchester United plc (NYSE:MANU), one of the most successful and historic sports clubs in the world, announces today that the Companyβs Board of Directors (the βBoardβ) is commencing a process to explore strategic alternatives for the clubβ, the club wrote in a statement.
βAs part of this process, the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the Companyβ, they added, with multiple reports claiming that their unpopular reign at the clubβs helm was finally set to come to an end.
It was then reported by Qatari news outlet Raya at the beginning of July that a deal was set to be signed off in the next few hours, with Sheikh Jassim becoming the new owner of the Old Trafford outfit.
However, that did not happen, leaving Man United very much in limbo with pre-season nearly over and the Premier League season just a couple of weeks away.
Now, a fresh update on the situation has been provided. A source toldΒ inewsΒ what they believe is the current situation and it doesnβt exactly sound promising for those fans wanting to see new ownership at Old Trafford:
βThere havenβt been requests to modify the offers or come up with a new round of bids as there was earlier in the process, thereβs just been no communication whatsoever of late.β
