Match report
Premier League giants Manchester United made predictably short work of minnows FC Sheriff on Thursday evening, to march on to the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
Erik ten Hag’s troops were back in action a short time ago.
Fresh off securing a crucial last-gasp share of the spoils at Chelsea over the weekend, the Red Devils made the trip to Moldova, for a meeting with the aforementioned Sheriff.
And, when all was said and done, the evening’s hosts, as expected, emerged on the right side of an altogether comfortable scoreline.
The game’s scoring was opened late in the first-half of action, when Diogo Dalot rose highest to nod home Christian Eriksen’s devilish set piece from the left:
Then, 25 minutes from time, the result was put beyond any remaining doubt, courtesy of Marcus Rashford.
Introduced off the bench for the heavily criticized Antony, Rashford wasted little time in making an impact, rounding out a fine team move by means of a pinpoint headed finish of his own:
And there was even time for Cristiano Ronaldo to get in on the act, too, marking his return to the first-team setup after a week filled with drama with just a 3rd goal of the season:
Manchester United, in turn, have booked their spot in the Europa League’s Last-32 with a game to spare.
