Manchester City vs Dinamo Zagreb betting tips: Champions League match preview & predictions

Manchester City vs Dinamo Zagreb prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Dinamo Zagreb

Manchester City will be aiming for a fifth consecutive win in all competitions. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 17 goals in their last four matches. Dinamo Zagreb are also in fine scoring form, netting 14 goals in their last four.

After resting a number of key players on Saturday, City should be fresh enough to win this one comfortably.

Any result at all for the visitors will massively boost their chances of qualifying, even this early on.

Manchester City vs Dinamo Zagreb: Who will win?

Having scored 19 goals in their last four Champions League home matches, Manchester City are massive favourites for this one. The home side are 1/14 to win the match while Dinamo Zagreb are priced at 33/1 to win. The draw can be backed at 10/1.

Although they have failed to score in ten of their 12 away matches in the competition, Dinamo Zagreb proved to be a real attacking threat against Atalanta. City have only kept two shutouts in their last seven Champions League matches at the Etihad. Both teams scoring looks good value at 21/20.

Sergio Aguero has scored eight goals in his seven appearances this season and will be keen to take his form into Europe.

Manchester City vs Dinamo Zagreb Champions League match preview

Manchester City host Dinamo Zagreb at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night for the second round of Champions League group stage matches.

Both sides made a winning start to their Group C campaign a fortnight ago. A rotated City side recorded an impressive 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus scored for the visitors.

Zagreb went one better after beating Italian side Atalanta 4-0 at home. Marin Leovac opened the scoring for Dinamo before Mislav Orsic netted a hat-trick. In doing so, Orsic became the first player to score a hat-trick for a Croatian team in a Champions League Group Stage game.

Dinamo Zagreb are 2nd in the domestic league, level on 19 points with leaders Hajduk Split afte nine matches. Zagreb beat local rivals Lokomotiva Zagreb 4-0 on Friday night. Damian Kadzior, Danielo Olmo, Mislav Orsic and Mario Gavranovic scored for Nenad Bjelica’s side.

Man City beat Everton 3-1 on Saturday to remain 2nd in the Premier League, five points behind Liverpool. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring but Everton drew level before half time – ending City’s run of three straight clean sheets. Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling scored in the second period to seal the three points.

These two sides have never faced each other in UEFA competition. In fact, Tuesday’s game will be City’s first against any Croatian side. Dinamo’s record against English sides is poor, winning one and losing five of their six games.

Atalanta host Shakhtar Donetsk in Italy in Tuesday’s other Group C game.

Manchester City team news vs Dinamo Zagreb

Kevin de Bruyne is a slight doubt for Tuesday after being replaced at Goodison Park with a suspected muscle injury. Speaking after the game the midfielder said “I think I feel fine” but Pep Guardiola won’t want to take any unnecessary risks with his star player.

Phil Foden missed out on Saturday through illness and could be involved on Tuesday.

John Stones is still a couple of weeks away from a return, meaning Fernandinho should continue alongside Nicolas Otamendi in defence. Teenager Eric Garcia is another option if Guardiola decides to rest either of the centre-backs.

Although David Silva and Sergio Aguero did not feature in City’s opening Champions League match against Shakhtar, the pair are expected to return to the starting eleven after being named among the substitutes against Everton. Bernardo Silva is also expected to start following his 10-minute cameo on Saturday

Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez could be two players to make way, despite scoring crucial goals at the weekend.

Benjamin Mendy could come in for Oleksandr Zinchenko, while Joao Cancelo might replace Kyle Walker at right-back.

Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are long-term absentees.
