Another, relativity, routine win for Manchester City.

Last weekend, the Citizens traveled to the south coast to take on AFC Bournemouth.

They led early through Sergio Agüero before Raheem Sterling made it 2-0.

The latter has scored 11 goals against Bournemouth; more than he has against any other opponent in his career.

The home side did pull one back in first half stoppage time but Agüero struck again in the second period to seal a 3-1 victory.

That result means Manchester City have won all nine of their top-flight games against Bournemouth.

That is the best 100% record by a team over another in top-flight history.

However, more importantly, they do not have a 100% record this season.

It looked ominous when, on the opening day, the champions ran out 5-0 winners at the London Stadium against West Ham.

But, a fortnight ago, despite leading twice, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur.

That means they are second, two points behind Liverpool and, even at this early stage, that will annoy them.

Will Pep Guardiola’s side win for the first time at home this season?

Can Brighton pull off a miracle?

As for Brighton, they’re one of ten teams who have mustered one win, one draw and suffered one defeat so far.

Their victory came back on the opening day at Watford.

An own goal as well as strikes from substitutes Florin Andone and Neal Maupay sealing a 3-0 win.

The perfect start for Graham Potter.

Then, in their first home match, Leandro Trossard’s equaliser helped them to a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Last weekend though, they were reduced to ten men after just 30 minutes when Andone was dismissed for a horrific tackle.

That made life very difficult for them and Southampton went on to win 2-0 at the Amex.

A disappointing defeat and now the most daunting of tasks as they look to bounce back.

Unlike their hosts, Brighton enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage so traveled to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

Teenager Aaron Connolly got his first goal for the club just after half time but the League One side equalised nine minutes later.

But, in the second minute of stoppage time, Glenn Murray got his first of the season to send Brighton through to round three.

When Connolly was born, the other goalscorer Murray was 16 years of age.

Now they travel to face a side who finished 60 places above Bristol Rovers in the league ladder last season.

Can the Seagulls stop Manchester City?

It seems highly unlikely.

This will be a rarity for Manchester City as they come into this one off the back of a free week when their opponents have had a midweek game.

That makes a home win look even more ominous.

As ever Ederson will be in goal.

He’s made nine saves so far in the Premier League but that tally is unlikely to rise too much in this game.

In defence, Aymeric Laporte has completed 297 passes in the league this season; that’s 36 more than anybody else.

He could continue to be partnered by Nicolás Otamendi with John Stones still an injury doubt.

In midfield, İlkay Gündoğan will keep his place ahead of Rodri and Fernandinho, the latter is yet to start this season.

Ahead of him may be David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian has now made 50 assists in the Premier League, achieving this milestone in the fewest appearances of any player in the league’s history (123).

He is providing for two of the most in form attackers anywhere in the world, which helps.

Sergio Agüero will lead the line; he is the top scorer in the Premier League in 2019 with 16.

Agüero also has a very good understanding with David Silva.

Gabriel Jesus is injured; the Brazilian should return after the international break.

The pair have now combined for 27 goals in the Premier League; the only duos to combine for more are Thierry Henry and Robert Pires (29) and Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (36).

They also have the league’s joint-top scorer; Raheem Sterling.

No player has ever scored more than six goals in August in the Premier League but, with five already, Sterling could break that record.

It appears to be a case of how many will this side get in this one?

As for the Seagulls, Graham Potter made eleven changes for the mid-week trip to Memorial Stadium.

Since taking over, he’s always used a back three formation but that is more likely to be a back five here.

Mat Ryan was one of those rested on Tuesday but he’ll be back in goal.

Dan Burn has established himself as a first choice centre-back alongside Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk.

Adam Webster, Steven Alzate and Aaron Mooy all made their debuts for the club on Tuesday but none are expected to start here.

Leandro Trossard and Pascal Groß will be out wide and will have to perform more defensive roles than they are accustomed too.

Up front, Florin Andone is suspended.

Glenn Murray and Aaron Connolly were the scorers in Bristol but Neal Maupay will get the nod for his mobility.

Can this side cause a monumental upset?
