Manchester City team news and predicted XI vs Arsenal

All the latest from the Etihad

Manchester City can put one hand on the Premier League trophy on Wednesday night when they host league leaders Arsenal at the Etihad.

Though they currently sit five points behind the Gunners, Pep Guardiola’s side have two games in hand and can reduce the gap to just two points should they manage to win against their old assistant coach Mikel Arteta.

Here’s how we expect Pep Guardiola to set his side up for the tie, and the latest team news coming out of Manchester ahead of the game.

Predicted XI

Team News

Manchester City welcomed back Phil Foden in their 3-0 win over Sheffield United at the weekend, with the Englishman having missed the last month with an appendix issue identified while on international duty with the Three Lions.

However, Pep Guardiola does have one major injury concern in the form of defender Nathan Ake, who has excelled on the left side of his new look defence so far this season.

The Dutchman pulled up with a hamstring injury against Bayern Munich in the Champions League second leg, and though the severity of the injury is not known at present, he is almost certain to miss out on the title clash at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Beyond that, any decisions will be tactical, with Guardiola having fielded Bernardo Silva at left back in the first clash between the two sides earlier in the season.

He could also look to employ the pace of Kyle Walker against the electric Gabriel Martinelli, though this would be harsh on John Stones, who has been excellent in his new inverted full back role.
