Manchester City star pens two-year contract extension

A headline member of the defensive setup at Premier League champions Manchester City has, on Thursday, put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club.

The player in question? Kyle Walker.

Speculation surrounding the future of full-back Walker, of course, was rampant in the media throughout the recently-closed summer transfer window.

This came after confirmation was forthcoming that the England international was giving serious consideration to a move to Germany, with Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians, on the hunt for defensive reinforcements ahead of Benjamin Pavard’s exit, identified Walker, in the final year of his contract, as the ideal cut-price addition.

In the end, however, Pep Guardiola proved decisive in convincing the veteran stopper to turn the Bundesliga champions down, to stay put for the season ahead.

This comes with Walker having committed his future to Man City for an extra two seasons, through the summer of 2026.

‘Kyle Walker has signed a new Manchester City contract, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2026,’ the Sky Blues announced.
