Club Brugge vs Man City

Manchester City faced off with Belgian outfit Club Brugge in a Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.

The Sky Blues headed into the tie looking to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to PSG in their last European outing.

Joao Cancelo and Phil Foden were two of the standout performers on the night. And it would be this pair who combined for the opening goal:

City continued to dominate after netting the opener and found themselves 2-0 up shortly before half-time after Riyad Mahrez stepped up to convert a penalty.

Kyle Walker would then make it 3-0 shortly into the second half to kill the game off and ensure all three points were heading back to Manchester.

Youngster Cole Palmer also came on to make it 4-0 and net his first-ever Champions League strike with Mahrez adding his second late on, giving City a convincing 5-1 win on the day.

That man was Joao Cancelo, who, as mentioned above, was one of City’s best performers on the night along with Foden.

The Portuguese was deployed at left-back by Guardiola, but as he has often done so over the last year, would take up the role of an inverted wing-back, charging up the pitch to add some extra menace to City’s attack.

This would cause Brugge all sorts of problems on the evening and even led to Cancelo earning comparisons to Neymar:
