When 2022/23 began, most people expected Liverpool to be Manchester City’s closest title challengers.
However, Liverpool currently sit 9th in the Premier League after 12 games, eight points off 4th and 15 points off top spot.
Instead, a new title challenger has arrived in the form of Arsenal. The Gunners missed out on the top-four last season but after another summer of good spending, the north Londoners are flying high.
Arsenal smashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 on Sunday and, as a result, are back to the top of the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won 10, drawn one and lost one so far this season.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are second with nine wins, two draws and one loss.
“I think Arsenal are very good. All of the top six really,” he said.
“Even Liverpool, they are away from us at the moment, but I still think they can be there at the end of the season. All the top six can challenge us for the Premier League title and all of the other trophies.”
Whilst Arsenal are currently going head-to-head with Man City, their lack of depth may cost them as the season goes on, especially if Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey suffer a long-term injury.
