Holders Manchester City set up a fourth-round EFL Cup tie with Brighton after a superb debut from teenager Floyd Samba helped them sweep past Norwich.
The 17-year-old, son of former Blackburn defender Chris Samba, scored twice as City easily dealt with Championship opposition.
The Seagulls were impressive winners against Manchester United on Wednesday and will be stern opposition for the holders as they chase a 10th League Cup win.
But Enzo Maresca has settled in well at the Etihad and his second string were much too strong for an equally changed Norwich side.
Rico Lewis pinged an early shot over the top for the hosts before the esciting Samba headed in on his debut after good work on the right by Allan.
Rayan Cherki added a second just three minutes later after running behind a high Norwich line after a fine pass from Ayyoub Bouaddi.
It was three at the start of the second half as elegant winger Allan cut in from the left, came back onto his left foot and angled in across goal.
Samba then made it four with an even better curler from a similar area to cap a very impressive display.
Father Chris, who played 171 times in the Premier League for Blackburn and QPR, was in the stands to enjoy, and with another son Tyrone also on City’s books has every reason to smile.
And it was 5-0 in the final minute as a fine flowing move was finished at the back post by Ryan McAidoo – another exciting young talent on the roster.
