Man United takeover latest: Five suitors emerge ahead of deadline

A fresh insight into the potential change of ownership at Premier League giants Manchester United has been forthcoming late on Thursday evening.

The subject of the ownership situation on the red half of Manchester has of course come back to the fore in a major way across the week to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming in the media that a fresh push to oust current majority shareholders the Glazers from their place in the boardroom at Old Trafford is on the horizon.

A group of private investors from Qatar, it is understood, are ready to move forward with an offer to take full control of United.

This consortium, however, will not have things all their own way in the Red Devils sweepstakes.

This comes with a further quartet of interested parties also understood to be giving serious consideration to a big-money offer.

‘Aside from Qatar, there is interest from the United States, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man and a lifelong United supporter, has announced his attention to bid.’

Beyond this, a number of Saudi groups are too keeping a close eye on the situation.

The Glazers, for their part, are said to be seeking a sum of around £6 billion to cut ties with Manchester United, ahead of next Friday’s ‘soft deadline’ for any and all offers.
