Man United supporters question club's treatment of two players after stellar showing vs Brentford

The Manchester United faithful have flooded to social media on Monday night, to reveal their disillusionment with the club once more.

The Red Devils were back in action a short time ago.

Fresh off an alarming stretch of just a solitary point secured from an available nine, Ralf Rangnick's men welcomed Brentford to Old Trafford, eyeing a long-overdue return to winning ways.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the evening's hosts managed.

A much-improved performance ultimately culminated in United emerging on the right side of a 3-0 scoreline to round out the club's home schedule for the season in style.

Bruno Fernandes opened the game's scoring inside ten minutes, before Cristiano Ronaldo's spot-kick finish early in the 2nd-half was followed by Raphael Varane putting some gloss on the result courtesy of his first goal in Red Devils colours:

Mata & Matic hailed

On the back of the full-time whistle bringing proceedings to a close at Old Trafford, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the United faithful being quick to heap praise on a number of their side's stars.

Cristiano Ronaldo, for one, has been widely hailed for a fine all-round performance.

None, though, have been more routinely commended across social media than veteran midfield pair Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata.

Lining out in front of the expectant crowd at the Theatre of Dreams for the final time ahead of their respective departures in the summer, Matic and Mata rolled back the years courtesy of a wonderful pair of displays.

Such efforts, though, have too culminated in widespread bemusement surrounding the treatment of both players over recent seasons, with a particular emphasis on why the talents of the experienced midfielders weren't relied upon on a more consistent basis:
