A key member of the defensive setup at Premier League giants Manchester United has, on Sunday evening, confirmed that he will soon put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.
The player in question? Luke Shaw.
Stopper Shaw, of course, has enjoyed a fine campaign to date.
Looking back to his brilliant best under the watch of new boss Erik ten Hag, the one-time big-money arrival at Old Trafford has staved off the challenge of summer signing Tyrell Malacia, to establish himself as one of the first names on the Red Devils’ team sheet.
Not only that, but Shaw has showcased his versatility, too, in both stepping into, and impressing in a third central defender role when required.
All told, such efforts have culminated in the former Southampton talent racking up 36 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking on the back of his side’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, United’s starring left-back was drawn on his future.
And Shaw went on to reveal that he is ‘close’ to signing a new contract, having already ‘agreed certain things’:
🚨 Luke Shaw confirms an agreement is imminent over new deal: “I’m close to a new contract. Nothing has been signed yet. We’ve agreed certain things. We’ll take it from there”, told Sky.
New deal will be valid until June 2027, to be signed soon with Manchester Utd to approve it. pic.twitter.com/OyK1sNqOfk
