An insight into the plans of incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag for midfielder Donny van de Beek has been provided on Sunday.

And the news will no doubt be met with widespread excitement on the part of those hopeful of seeing the Dutchman go on to resurrect his career at Old Trafford over the seasons to come.

This comes with vdB featuring prominently in the plans of his new boss.

Ten Hag, of course, is fully aware of the talents possessed by United's out-of-favour midfield star, having overseen the finest form of his career to date during the pair's thoroughly successful time together at Dutch giants Ajax.

And, evidently, the tactician is of the opinion that his fellow countryman is more than capable of returning to such heights in England.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, van de Beek is 'in the plans' of ten Hag for the 2021/22 campaign, with the 25-year-old, fresh off a disappointing loan stint with Everton, 'expected to play a role' in the United setup moving forward.

Eriksen eyed

Interestingly, word of van de Beek's planned reintroduction to the first-team ranks at Old Trafford comes fresh off news that ten Hag and co. have also set their sights on a potential free addition to the club's midfield ranks this summer.

The player being eyed? Christian Eriksen.

As per a report from The Mirror, the latest instillation on the bench in Manchester is a keen admirer of Eriksen's talents.

The transfer team at United, in turn, are considering tabling a contract proposal to the Danish international, set to become a free agent upon the conclusion of his short-term deal with Brentford at the end of the month.
