Premier League leaders Manchester City have today revealed the winner of the club’s player of the month award for October.
Pep Guardiola’s Citizens continued their scintillating start to the campaign last month, racking up 5 wins from 5 games across all competitions, including a crucial Champions League victory over Napoli and an incredible 7-2 hammering of Stoke City.
With the Etihad outfit currently playing what many have branded as the finest football of the Premier League era, there were, understandably, a number of players who could have secured the club’s player of the month award for October.
The final nominations came down to Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne.
Sterling, who has found his shooting boots in a major way over the last couple of months, notched goals against West Brom and Napoli, as well as providing a pair of assists versus Stoke last month.
Sane, meanwhile, has gone on to make Ctiy’s left side very much his own following the long-term injury suffered by Benjamin Mendy in September.
The German racked up 3 goals and 2 assists during the month of October.
Finally, Kevin De Bruyne, who has been hailed as the finest midfielder in the Premier League of late, enjoyed a stellar month for the Citizens, pulling the strings from his deep-lying berth as he laid on goals during his side’s clashes with Napoli, Burnley and Stoke.
And the winner is…
In the end, it was brilliant Belgian De Bruyne who received the nod from City’s fans, with the club announcing the award via their Twitter account this morning:
