Man City crowd target Raheem Sterling on way to win over Chelsea

Sections of the Manchester City crowd in attendance at the club’s meeting with Chelsea on Sunday made use of the opportunity to take aim at former attacker Raheem Sterling.

The Sky Blues were of course back in action a short time ago.

Fresh off a hard-fought 1-0 downing of Chelsea earlier in the week, Pep Guardiola’s troops went head-to-head with the capital giants once more, on this occasion in the FA Cup.

And, this time round, victory proved altogether more straightforward to come by.

This came as goals on the part of all of Riyad Mahrez (2), Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden culminated in a 4-0 final scoreline at the Etihad.

As alluded to above, though, their side’s eventual triumph did not prove quite enough cause for celebration for some members of the Man City fanbase.

Instead, chants were heard emanating from the home crowd, at the expense of Raheem Sterling.

Wide-man Sterling, of course, opted to depart Manchester during the summer, taking his talents to London with Chelsea.

Amid what has proven a difficult season to date for the Blues and Sterling alike, in turn, the following was heard emanating from the Etihad stands on Sunday evening:

“Raheem Sterling, he’s 10th in the league!”
