Liverpool star Darwin Nunez will play no part in his country’s upcoming round of fixtures, it has been confirmed late on Friday.
As part of the upcoming international break, Uruguay, for their part, are set to play out a pair of friendly fixtures.
First, the Celeste will make the trip to Tokyo on Friday, March 24th, for a meeting with Japan.
And this will be followed in short order by a clash with South Korea at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, on Tuesday the 28th.
As alluded to above, however, one high-profile member of Diego Alonso’s squad set to play no part in either fixture comes in the form of Darwin Nunez.

This comes after it was announced across Uruguay’s official social media channels a short time ago that the Liverpool star has been replaced in Alonso’s setup by Jonathan Rodriguez.
An injury on Nunez’s part is cited as reason why, albeit with little more detail provided when it comes to the extent of the problem.
His status for Liverpool’s post-break Premier League showdown with Manchester City, as a result, is currently unclear.
