Liverpool and Tottenham have named their starting teams for their EFL Cup third round tie at Anfield on Tuesday.

The Reds are without a domestic win at Anfield in their first season under head coach Andoni Iraola, having drawn 0-0 at home to Fulham in the top flight on Saturday.

Spurs have set an unwanted club record by failing to score in their first four Premier League games of the campaign, taking two points.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side thrashed Championship club Charlton Athletic 5-1 at home in the second round, while their opponents are making their first appearance in this season’s Carabao Cup.

Liverpool confirmed starting team vs Spurs

On-loan Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is the only Liverpool player retained from that draw with Fulham.

Joe Gomez makes his first start of the season at the back, having recovered from a muscle injury sustained during pre-season.

Defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni (knee) and forwards Federico Chiesa (muscle) and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles) are out.

Tottenham full line up vs Liverpool

Archie Gray, Rodrigo Bentancur and Omar Marmoush are the Spurs players to keep their places from the 0-0 draw at home to Everton in the league on Saturday.

Winger Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and full-back Pedro Porro (muscle) are sidelined for Spurs, as is playmaker Sandro Tonali with a knock.

Midfielder Xavi Simons and widemen Mykhailo Mudryk and Wilson Odobert are also injured but deadline-day signing Tosin Adarabioyo makes his full debut and full-back Destiny Udogie returns from a knee issue.

James Maddison returned on the bench against Everton following the midfielder’s shoulder problem. Forward Richarlison remains out of the squad, having said he wants to leave.
