Here is the latest Liverpool team news ahead of their clash with Tottenham.

If Liverpool want to make a push for the top-four, it probably starts with their game on Sunday.

Liverpool are 9th in the Premier League and 10 points off Spurs, who sit 3rd.

However, the Reds have a game in hand on the Lilywhites, so a win on Sunday and a win in their game in hand would close that gap to just four with over half the season to play.

Ahead of the game with Tottenham, 101GreatGoals has provided the latest Liverpool team news.

James Milner

Milner started in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Napoli in midweek but was forced off after 48 minutes.

And on Friday, the German had this to say: “It’s difficult, you need two sources, the doctor and the patient. It was clear. In the dressing room, I spoke to him and he was 100% okay, but then coming out into the floodlights, he realised and we took him off obviously.”

Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz was a key figure in Liverpool’s side for much of 2022.

However, the Colombian suffered a knee injury during a 3-2 loss to Arsenal earlier in October and is not expected to return to full fitness until December, at which point the World Cup will be on.

This has left Liverpool’s left-hand side rather thin on the ground, meaning more minutes for Fabio Carvalho seems likely.

Joel Matip

Like Diaz, Matip was injured in the 3-2 loss to Arsenal earlier in October.

Klopp has previously said that he hopes Matip can return for the final few games before the World Cup: “Everything is going well, but he needs a bit of time. I think with him, it will be tight until the World Cup break; hopefully, in the last two or three games, he might be in contention, but I don’t know yet.”

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota was expected to fill in for Diaz on Liverpool’s left flank whilst the South American was out.

However, Jota picked up a calf injury vs Manchester City and will now miss the World Cup.

Klopp said: “He will miss the World Cup. [It’s a] pretty serious injury in the calf muscle and now the recovery process starts. We can say that because he will not be in for a long time; we talk about months.”

Naby Keita

Naby Keita has not played for Liverpool since the Community Shield defeat of Manchester City at the end of July.

Keita was ill before sustaining a muscle problem.
