Liverpool Team News

  • Out: Thiago, Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajčetić, Joe Gomez
  • Doubt: Luis Díaz, Konstantinos Tsimikas

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool is in real danger of finishing outside of the Champions League places for the first time since the German featured on the touchline in his first full season back in 2016-17.

Currently sitting sixth due to superior goal difference and coming off a 1-0 loss away at Bournemouth before the international break, getting back on track in the league is of vital importance for one of the nation’s most storied clubs, and they’ll have to do it against a side whom they have feared well against in recent seasons.

Liverpool received a huge fitness boost in the run-up to the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday, with Darwin Núñez shrugging off a knock picked up on international duty and in line to take up his position on the left side of the front three. Even more importantly, Luis Díaz is back in the senior setup and in training, though he is not close to appearing in the starting XI. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas is also back, giving Klopp badly needed depth in all areas.
