Liverpool ‘monitoring’ Portuguese teenager with seven goals this season ahead of potential January swoop

Liverpool in need of a forward
With both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the Africa Cup of Nations, and Divock Origi out of contract in the summer, Liverpool are in need of a new forward.

Takumi Minamino has flattered to deceive since his move from RB Salzburg, which leaves just Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino as options in the forward line.
With Firmino, Mane and Salah all now the wrong side of 30, too, it is clear that the Reds are in need of new blood.
Carvalho on the move?
In turn, as per the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho, who has grabbed 7 goals and 2 assists in 16 Championship games this season.
Though they are reportedly interested in the forward, the Merseyside club are yet to make the first move. The Echo report:
“The Reds have made no contact with Fulham as things stands, despite reports that chief scout Barry Hunter was in attendance for the Cottagers’ 6-2 win at home to Bristol City on January 15.
Liverpool, however, are keeping tabs on Carvalho’s situation in west London with some reports claiming that Fulham could cash in before the close of the January transfer window.”

His age, versatility and sheer ability, added to the fact that his contract is due to expire in the summer, are all factors in Liverpool’s interest:
“The Reds’ recruitment team believe Carvalho’s level of experience at 19 and his ability to play in a number of attacking roles make him an interesting prospect as they look to continue their policy of luring the finest youngsters in England to the club.”
