Liverpool linked with World Cup breakout star after Premier League wish is revealed

The Reds are rumored to be making headway on Argentine international Enzo Fernández, but another possible midfield target may come to the fore after previous contact has come to light

Premier League giants Liverpool continue to be linked with a host of possible transfers targeting the center of the park after yet another name can be added to the growing list on Merseyside as previous contact with Ghana breakout star Mohammed Kudus has come to light.

The Reds have reportedly gained ground on a possible move for Argentine starlet Enzo Fernández on the back of his breaking performances for La Albiceleste this winter in Qatar, with dialogue between Liverpool and SL Benfica said to be underway.

Jürgen Klopp’s perennial title chasers have also been linked with interest in Moroccan star Sofyan Amrabat who has also shone on the international stage during the 2022 World Cup and a key figure for Walid Regragui’s history-making Atlas Lions as they became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals when they clash with France later this week.

But previous contact with Kudus has now been cited after Liverpool opened dialogue with the 22-year-old Accra native during a summer of uncertainty at Dutch giants AFC Ajax after it was first thought that he might be unable to settle in Amsterdam after his 2020 move from Danish youth development experts FC Nordsjælland.

Kudus has since found form for the Eredivisie outfit this season and came into the tournament on the back of 10 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, and that form persisted for Atto Oddo’s Black Stars, and Liverpool could be in a position to come back to the table for his services.

As revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Kudus is said to want to depart from Ajax in the summer with the Premier League reportedly being his destination of choice as he looks to take the next step of his young career.

Boasting a versatile profile while being able to be deployed as a center-forward, a central attacking midfielder, on either flank or as a mobile eight, those qualities could certainly suit the Reds who are preparing to lose up to three central options this summer.
