Liverpool legend sends warning to club ahead of Arsenal test

Former Liverpool star Ian Rush has sent a warning to the club ahead of their meeting with Arsenal.

The game is a huge one for Liverpool, who can move to within a point of league leaders Manchester City should they pick up a win.

Ahead of the match, Rush has warned Liverpool that it will be a very tricky game due to the way Arsenal are playing right now:

“Arsenal away on Wednesday looks like a very, very tricky game for Liverpool with the way the Gunners are playing at the moment,” Rush said.

“I’ve said from the start of the season that I fancied them to finish in the top four this term and right now it looks as though it’s theirs to lose.

“Liverpool will have to be at their best or they could quite easily lose at the Emirates. They might not have played as well as they can against Brighton or West Ham, but they were able to do enough.

“Against this Arsenal side, no less than their best will do, and that’s a credit to Mikel Arteta who has rewarded the club for their faith in him, bearing in mind there were quite a few calls for his head at the beginning of the season when they got off to a rocky start.”

The Gunners will face off with Jurgen Klopp’s side at 8:15 pm this evening.

The match is one of Arsenal’s games in hand they have on Manchester United, West Ham, Wolves and Chelsea – meaning a win would greatly boost their chances of securing a top-four spot this season.

However, Liverpool are currently the league’s in-form side and will no doubt be a tough nut to crack.

It will be an especially big test for Arsenal as, whilst their form has improved, the Gunners still have an awful record against the top teams this campaign.
