Liverpool have already lined up Mo Salah replacement amid potential January exit

The Reds are already considering their options.

Liverpool have already sounded out their potential Mohamed Salah replacement in the form of PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, it has been reported, amid continuing speculation that Salah could depart Anfield sooner rather than later.

The Reds rejected a £150m bid from Al-Ittihad for Salah on transfer deadline day, and he now looks set to stay until at least January, though given the Saudi Arabia transfer window is open for another week it is not a guarantee even though Liverpool selling at this stage seems almost out of the question.

There are reports of a £200m move in the works, and that could roll over to January when the Reds may consider cashing in so as to replace him effectively.

To that end, they have reportedly identified PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko as a potential replacement for the Egyptian, with the 20-year-old having attracted interest from the likes of Brentford, Burnley and PSG this summer before ultimately staying in the Netherlands.

Bakayoko broke into the PSV first team properly following the departure of Noni Madueke in January, with the young Englishman joining Chelsea and Bakayoko taking his place in the frontline.

In the time since the 20-year-old has made 44 first-team appearances, registering seven goals and nine assists and drawing the attention of plenty of clubs in the process.

Bakayoko would be unlikely to replicate Salah’s instant impact in the Premier League, but is considered an exceptional young talent and could be an excellent long term replacement for the Egyptian.
