A headline member of the attacking ranks at Championship outfit Leeds United has, on Friday, forwarded an official transfer request to the Elland Road hierarchy.
The player in question? Wilfried Gnonto.
The subject of wide-man Gnonto’s future has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west Yorkshire for several weeks now.
This comes amid something of a standoff between the two parties.
Gnonto, for his part, has long been pushing for an Elland Road exit, amid intense interest on the part of Premier League outfit Everton.
The Leeds hierarchy, however, have made clear time and time again to the Italian international and Everton alike that Gnonto is simply not for sale.
Daniel Farke’s squad has of course been raided across the summer to date, with a whole host of the Whites’ key performers having opted to move on.
Desperate to follow such players out the door, though, on Friday, Gnonto has taken stepped up his efforts once more.
As per a report from David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘Wilfried Gnonto has submitted a written transfer request as he attempts to secure a move away from Leeds United.’
It is also added that the powers that be at Goodison Park are ready to table an improved bid for the 19-year-old, albeit with Leeds still refusing to budge in their stance that Gnonto will be going nowhere before the summer is out.
