La Liga chief backs Real Madrid in Mbappe & Haaland pursuits, but rules Barcelona out

A head-turning quote by way of La Liga president Javier Tebas has piqued widespread attentions across Spain on Thursday evening.

This comes after the 60-year-old provided his take on the chances of two of world football’s brightest up-and-coming stars making their way to the country over the years to come.

The players in question? Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Both Mbappe and Haaland, of course, have been hotly tipped to take their respective talents to La Liga at some point over the last couple of years, with the former in particular having only missed out on a highly-anticipated Real Madrid switch owing to a last-minute change of heart.

And the aforementioned Tebas, for one, is of the opinion that France’s World Cup final hat-trick hero could yet be afforded a fresh chance to call Spain his home at some point down the line.

Fellow sensation Haaland, meanwhile - in the early stages of a scintillating stint with Manchester City - could seemingly follow suit.

Tebas, though, has also made clear his take that only one of La Liga’s giants boasts the necessary monetary power to push a deal for either player over the line.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, the accredited lawyer named Real Madrid as fully capable of competing with the continent’s best in the long-term battle for the services of Mbappe and Haaland alike.

Supporters of Clasico rivals Barcelona, though, have seen their hopes of similar moves on the part of the Camp Nou board dashed:
