Kieran Tierney reveals which player he asked for advice about new Arsenal role

Kieran Tierney has turned to Scotland teammate Greg Taylor for tips over his new position at Arsenal.

Tierney was Arsenal’s no.1 left-back for several years, but he is now facing serious competition from Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Following Zinchenko’s arrival from Manchester City, Mikel Arteta has adopted the inverted full-back tactic.

Zinchenko, who played it regularly under Pep Guardiola, looks well suited to this role and has been in great form for the Gunners when fit this season.

Tierney, on the other hand, has not looked at his best, likely because he is still adapting to his new role.

Now, whilst away on international duty, the left-back has revealed that he sought the advice of Celtic’s Greg Taylor on how to play as an inverted full-back.

Tierney said of Taylor’s recent form: “He’s been brilliant, inverted full-back, and that’s how we are playing down there, so I’m watching him every week trying to take tips from him.

“We watch each other’s games and always text each other after games.

“It’s a new role for me and a role he is really comfortable in.

“It’s great to watch him, he has been one of Celtic’s best players this season.

“Greg’s attitude is brilliant and I’m delighted to see him doing so well, a great guy who deserves all the credit he is getting just now.”
