Tierney was Arsenalβs no.1 left-back for several years, but he is now facing serious competition from Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Following Zinchenkoβs arrival from Manchester City, Mikel Arteta has adopted the inverted full-back tactic.
Zinchenko, who played it regularly under Pep Guardiola, looks well suited to this role and has been in great form for the Gunners when fit this season.
Tierney, on the other hand, has not looked at his best, likely because he is still adapting to his new role.
Now, whilst away on international duty, the left-back has revealed that he sought the advice of Celticβs Greg Taylor on how to play as an inverted full-back.
Tierney said of Taylorβs recent form: βHeβs been brilliant, inverted full-back, and thatβs how we are playing down there, so Iβm watching him every week trying to take tips from him.
βWe watch each otherβs games and always text each other after games.
βItβs a new role for me and a role he is really comfortable in.
βItβs great to watch him, he has been one of Celticβs best players this season.
βGregβs attitude is brilliant and Iβm delighted to see him doing so well, a great guy who deserves all the credit he is getting just now.β
