Jurgen Klopp speaks out on leaving Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are having a tough 2022/23 season.

Liverpool’s form has fallen off a cliff in 2022/23. The Reds sit 10th in the league after 20 games and are very unlikely to secure a top-four spot.

One of Liverpool’s main issues this term has been their defence. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in especially bad form, whilst the Reds as a squad are leaking goals – including three to a Wolves side who had scored just 12 in 20 before their recent meeting with Liverpool.

Liverpool have shipped 28 goals in 2022/23 so far, which is already more than they let in during the entirety of 2021/22 (26).

This has led to speculation over the future of Jurgen Klopp, who also saw his Borussia Dortmund stint collapse around this time as well.

Now though, Klopp has spoken out about leaving Liverpool after seven years: “I understand when people say ‘oh seven years there (Mainz), seven years there (Dortmund), but that has nothing to do with it.

“This situation is totally different for different reasons. At Mainz it was a career step as well, at Dortmund I was really exhausted in that moment. But I am neither nor, in this moment. Neither (career) nor exhausted. I am completely here, and I have too much responsibility (to leave) – and I want it. And I want to sort it again.

“If we could show in this difficult time at this club – especially here because it is so special, because we believe in everything – then we will get through this.”
