Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool signing a midfielder

Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media on Friday morning ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming clash.

Liverpool face off with Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace at 8 pm UK this coming Monday to round out gameweek two.

Ahead of the tie, Jurgen Klopp discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including team news.

Thiago suffered an injury in gameweek 1 vs Fulham and is set to miss out vs Palace. This leaves Liverpool light of quality in midfield.

But when asked about addressing his side’s issues via the transfer market, Klopp suggested that would not happen:

“I am happy with the size and quality of my squad. There are different solutions - one is the transfer market but it only makes sense if you can bring in the right player,” Klopp said.

“All the other solutions are inside the squad, we definitely have too many injuries - that is clear. Naby will be back on Monday. Kostas will train today for first time, he might be back.

“If the right player was available and the opportunity was there, we would have done it. We have had a lot of conversations already and it doesn’t look like anything will happen.”

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

The Reds head into the game looking to bounce back from their opening weekend draw with Fulham.

Liverpool looked lackluster for much of the opening 60 minutes of that tie, and were only really able to salvage a draw thanks to the introduction of Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott.

As for Crystal Palace, they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal on the opening weekend and looked far from their best.
