Jurgen Klopp confirms two Liverpool players will miss out vs Newcastle
Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s next outing.
Liverpool will take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.
Ahead of the tie, Klopp spoke to the media on Friday and discussed a number of topics, including his new contract, which keeps him at Liverpool until 2026: “The main reason for signing the last contract – I thought it might be like this without knowing it would be. 8 years in 2024 – I thought it could be it, but then I didn’t think about it. The plan didn’t change, then it changed!”

Klopp was then asked about the contract situations of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, to which he said: “That’s more of a question for the boys, to be honest.
“But it’s all fine, I really think they are both great. They have more things to think about than the management, but it’s an important thing.”
Finally, the German would provide a team news update on his side ahead of Liverpool:
Klopp on injuries:
“Kostas and Curtis had a couple of issues. Kostas is back but Curtis is not yet back. Bobby will not be ready for tomorrow either. He hasn’t trained yet.” #awlive [lfc]

Newcastle vs Liverpool
Liverpool head into the Newcastle clash looking to go top of the Premier League table, even if it is only for a few hours.
Should Liverpool draw or beat the Magpies, they will surpass Manchester City, who are in action vs Leeds United in the day’s late kick-off.
Getting one over on Newcastle is no easy task, though. Eddie Howe has transformed St James’ Park into a fortress, with the Magpies now seven league games unbeaten at home.
Liverpool have also had to contend with a gruelling Champions League clash vs Villarreal on Wednesday and will have had just over a day’s less rest than Man City, who took on Real Madrid this past Tuesday.
