Jude Bellingham matches Robert Lewandowski benchmark in Real Madrid’s win over Girona

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has, on Saturday, joined Barcelona frontman Robert Lewandowski as La Liga’s most decisive player across the season to date.

For those who may have missed it, Real, and Bellingham, were back in action a short time ago.

In the knowledge that an eventual three-point haul would guide them back to the summit of the Spanish top-flight, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to the Estadi Montilivi, for a meeting with high-flying Girona.

And, when all was said and done, march on to another victory is precisely what Los Blancos managed.

The aforementioned Bellingham, meanwhile, played a central role once more.

After laying on Joselu’s opener courtesy of a sumptuous outside-of-the-boot cross, the England international later added a goal of his own, too, to round out a comfortable 3-0 win.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, Bellingham matched another altogether impressive benchmark.

Owing to his haul of six goals and two assists, the summer arrival in Spain has now matched Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski as La Liga’s most decisive player in 2023/24, with eight direct goal contributions.
