Jack Wilshere singles out two future stars from Arsenal’s academy

Jack Wilshere has recently namedropped two Arsenal academy stars who he sees potential in.

Wilshere was a graduate of the famed Hale-End academy and has since been back around the club training recently .

Now, in an interview, Wilshere has namedropped Charlie Patino and Salah Oulad M’Hand as players in the Gunners’ academy who have a chance of making it in the first-team:

“I don’t want to tell you about a player who I think is really good then put pressure on him and it doesn’t work out,” said Wilshere.

“But there’s a few in the academy. The fans will watch the under-23s and know about Charlie Patino, who got his chance.

“But then there are other players out there, there’s a boy called Salah who is really good coming through. There’s a lot of players in that group who are technically very, very good.”

Salah is yet to make a senior appearance for Arsenal, whilst Patino has featured twice and netted his first goal for the Gunners in a League Cup quarter-final tie vs Sunderland.

Arsenal look to youth

Both of the aforementioned players could not be coming through at a better time.

Mikel Arteta has a clear focus on youth and, to the Spaniard’s credit, it has worked out very well so far.

Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, graduates of the Arsenal academy, have been two of the Gunners’ best players in 2021/22, whilst the north Londoners have also looked to youth in the market, signing the likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Nuno Tavares.
