Arsenal’s Ben White has this week opened up on the criticism he received at the start of his Gunners career.
The centre-back was signed for big money last summer. In turn, a lot of pressure was put on the Englishman.
And whilst he has since stepped up to the plate, White endured a nightmare Arsenal debut. The Gunners lost 2-0 to Brentford in the Bees’ first-ever Premier League match and White looked pretty weak on the day.
The bees sting again! 🐝🐝

Ben White speaks out on criticism
During the game, White was therefore heavily criticised by Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, and has now spoken out about the respective pundits’ comments: “I saw it and I think it was the first time I’ve been singled out.
“It’s never a nice feeling but it gave me more incentive to go out there and do well. The fact is that some of the stuff they said was true.”

White also opened up on his struggles as a young footballer:
“I wasn’t good enough when I was younger. I was a late developer. I was probably as tall as I am now but really skinny, gangly, couldn’t really run. And I didn’t play at all when I was a kid at Southampton. There were always people playing in front of me”
