Inter Milan eye shock late transfer for Manchester United star

The Italian giants are ready to take a punt on the Red Devil

Inter Milan are lining up a shock loan move for Manchester United club captain Harry Maguire as the Englishman struggles for game time at Old Trafford, with Victor Lindelof primed to remain in Manchester beyond the end of the transfer window.

Maguire played 90 minutes against Reading to help his side into the FA Cup fifth round over the weekend, but has made just two Premier League starts since August and has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Luke Shaw preferred to him in the heart of defence in recent weeks.

Now, it appears as though Italian giants Inter Milan are keen on resurrecting the Englishman’s stuttering career, with a strong World Cup with England not translating into more appearances for the Red Devils.

With Milan Skriniar potentially on his way to Paris Saint Germain, the Daily Mail report that Inter are ready to offer him a way out on loan this January, though the Englishman would rather wait until the summer to evaluate his future properly.

And it certainly doesn’t sound as though his Manchester United career is definitely over. Speaking ahead of the clash with Reading, Erik Ten Hag told the media:

“We have to be ready, that is why we have a strong selection. Harry [Maguire] is back. I already said yesterday [in the pre-match press conference] he was ill when he returned from the World Cup, otherwise, he should have played a couple of games. But you have to play to get back into the rhythm.

“He did already play some games, but I think this is a good game for him to return in, especially when you see the height of the opponent. He had some chances. But every player has to pick their chances. He is training very well, training very dominant. And that is what I want to see from him. He is a leader and captain and I have big expectations of him.

With Lisandro Martinez suspended for the upcoming trip to Camp Nou to play Barcelona, Maguire’s services could be required.
