‘I’m sorry’: Jurgen Klopp hits out at Liverpool squad following Wolves’ thrashing

Liverpool fell to yet another defeat on Saturday afternoon.

After Chelsea drew with Fulham on Friday night, Liverpool had a chance to gain some ground on the top-four.

However, they fell to what was a rather embarrassing 3-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-battling Wolves.

As a result, Liverpool remain 10th in the league and 11 points off 4th.

Now, following the game, Jurgen Klopp has hit out at his players.

Speaking after the match, Klopp bemoaned the sloppy start his side made to the match, insisting it “cannot be allowed”.

“Conceding early goals is not unfamiliar to us but the way we conceded them today was not acceptable,” the Liverpool boss said.

“When you see the whole game, throughout the game in moments we played an outstanding game without scoring and a good away game without scoring. The third goal I don’t count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half.

“This start is horrible. You do yourself no favours in these moments, giving easy balls away. We were passive in the two goals, everything we wanted to do was be compact and active but we were compact and passive.

“I can’t explain it, I think, ‘why would you do that’? But they did it anyway.”

He added: “Concentration for the first 15 minutes. Again, I cannot explain. But these 15 minutes cannot be allowed. It needs to change. That’s the thing. I stand here again and for the first 15 minutes I have no explanation, I’m sorry.”
