ICYMI: Bukayo Saka paid tribute to Mesut Ozil with his Arsenal celebration vs Newcastle

For those who may have missed it, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka made use of the trademark celebration synonymous with former teammate Mesut Ozil after finding the net versus Newcastle on Saturday.

Saka amongst the goals

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners were of course back in action a little over 24 hours ago.

After seeing a stellar run of recent form brought to a definitive end at the hands of Liverpool last weekend, Arsenal welcomed Premier League basement dwellers Newcastle United to the Emirates, eyeing an immediate return to winning ways.

And, when all was said and done in the capital, this is precisely what the hosts managed.

A dominant display ultimately culminated in Arteta and co. emerging on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline, owing to strikes from the aforementioned Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

The latter’s effort, which arrived with just his 2nd touch after being introduced as a 2nd-half substitute, proved particularly spectacular, with the Brazilian having lofted a wonderful volleyed finish beyond the advancing Martin Dubravka from Takehiro Tomiyasu’s assist:

This comes with the 20-year-old having made use of the opportunity to pay something of a tribute to a former teammate in north London.

The player in question? Mesut Ozil.

As showcased below, after wheeling away on the back of his goal just shy of the hour mark, Saka put his thumb to his mouth, whilst making an ‘M’ shape with his other hand, in a direct replica of the post-goal celebration so long showcased by midfield maestro Ozil at the Emirates:
