That man is Granit Xhaka, who captained the Gunners in their recent 3-0 win over Brentford.

Xhaka was an excellent leader on the pitch and his passing was superb, including for Gabriel Jesus’ goal, which he headed in from a Xhaka cross.

This is not the first time we have seen Xhaka play well this season, with the Swiss star performing much better in a more advanced midfield role in 2022/23.

Now, after Xhaka’s latest display, Ian Wright has been heaping him in praise.

Reflecting on Xhaka’s recent displays, the Arsenal legend was full of praise and admitted the midfielder has proved him wrong with the level and consistency of his performances:

“For me, Granit Xhaka is a player that we’re finally see play like he does for Switzerland,” Wright said on Match of the Day.

“Lately he’s been able to find space and from there he can be really dangerous because, for me, he’s got easily one of the best left-foots in the Premier League.

“It’s a great cross for the Jesus goal, it’s fantastic. He can also do the defensive stuff, he gets back and get his foot in there.

“He set the tempo for Arsenal off the ball. I’m really pleased for him because I was one of his staunchest critics. But now we’re seeing the best of Granit Xhaka.”

Arsenal will be hoping for a similarly impress, level-headed display from Xhaka when they return to Premier League action in October vs Tottenham.
