Large sections of the home support in attendance at Real Madrid’s showdown with Barcelona on Sunday made use of the opportunity to take aim at their long-time rivals.
The latest edition of El Clasico, of course, played out a short time ago.
This came as Spanish and European champions Real welcomed Xavi Hernandez’s Barca to the Bernabeu, for a highly-anticipated clash.
The two sides headed into proceedings locked on points atop the La Liga table, in turn aware that the eventual outcome could prove key in deciding the eventual destination of the title.
And, when all was said and done, as has so often proven the case over recent years, it was hosts Real who emerged triumphant.
Goals on the part of all of Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo guided Los Merengues to the right side of an eventual 3-1 scoreline, on a thoroughly entertaining night in Spain’s capital.

This came as those of a Real persuasion took full advantage of the chance to poke fun at their historic rivals.
Such efforts came courtesy of a pair of chants, the first of which saw Barcelona’s struggles in this season’s edition of the Champions League highlighted:
🗣 Real Madrid fans: “You will play on Thursdays, Thursday.”

And Blaugrana boss Xavi was next on the agenda, as pleas for the ex-midfielder to remain on the bench in Catalunya for the long-term rang around the Bernabeu:
