How long Paul Pogba is expected to be sidelined following freak injury

Paul Pogba’s homecoming nightmare is set to continue, with the Frenchman set to miss a further three weeks after a freak injury in training with Juventus.

The midfielder arrived back in Turin on a free transfer after a mixed five year spell with Manchester United, but suffered an ankle injury which required surgery and missed Les Blues’ World Cup run, which ended on penalties in the final.

Since then, he has managed just two substitute appearances for Juventus, coming on for a total of 35 minutes for Max Allegri’s side.

He was then left out of their Europa League last 16 tie with Freiburg after he turned up late to training, robbing himself of his first start in his second Juventus stint.

Now, he has picked up yet another injury, with the Athletic reporting that he is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks after picking up an injury practicing free-kicks in training.

“This morning, Pogba was taking free kicks and felt a twinge in his adductor”, Allegri explained.

Pogba faces missing out on another National team squad too with his latest issue, with Deschamps expected to announce the squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers vs the Netherlands and Ireland this week.

It caps what has been a torrid 12 months for the 30-year-old, with Pogba not having completed 90 minutes of senior football since March 2022, when he was still a Manchester United player.

His comeback after the international break could see him make his first Juve start against Hellas Verona on April 1st, before a Coppa Italia clash with Inter Milan, which is the last trophy available to Juventus this season.
