How long Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard is expected to be sidelined following groin injury

The Belgian limped off in the first half of the clash with Bournemouth

Arsenal are hopeful that Leandro Trossard will not be sidelined for more than a fortnight after picking up a groin injury during their dramatic 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Gunners fought back from 2-0 down thanks to the intervention of Hale End graduate Reiss Nelson, who provided an assist before firing in the winning goal in the 97th minute to wrestle back three points from the Cherries.

It was not all good news for Arsenal though. January addition Leandro Trossard was forced off in the first half with what appeared to be a groin issue, having to be replace by Emile Smtih Rowe and adding further to Mikel Arteta’s injury headache.

It may be better than initially feared, however. ‘The initial assessment of the injury is positive’, it is reported, with the London Evening Standard adding that ‘the Gunners hope he will be back within the next fortnight’.

In the meantime, what Mikel Arteta looks to implement remains unclear, with Eddie Nketiah missing the clash on Saturday with an ankle injury and Gabriel Jesus working his way back to full fitness following a knee injury sustained at the World Cup but not yet ready to feature for the Gunners.

Against Bournemouth, Gabriel Martinelli was deployed centrally after Trossard’s departure, with Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson both taking station on the left flank in a move that could be utilised again when they play Sporting on Thursday evening.
