How Kylian Mbappe's future could be affected if he knocks Real Madrid out of the Champions League

Despite injury fears that made Kylian Mbappe a doubt for the second leg of the Champions League last 16, the Frenchman has been named in the starting XI for PSG's trip to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Currently, his goal in the dying moments of the first leg in Paris separates the two sides, with Mbappe darting between two defenders before finishing low pasty Courtois a fortnight ago.

And, should he prove to be on the winning side come the end of the second leg, advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition in the process, it is reported that Los Blancos will formalise their interest in the Frenchman.

Mike McGrath reports that 'Mbappe, 23, is wanted by the Spanish giants as a free agent at the end of the season but they must still officially inform PSG they intend to speak to their player. Should Mbappe eliminate them from Europe tonight, an offer is set to follow'.

Is this PSG's season?

With only months left on his contract, it feels like this has to be the season for PSG's Champions League success as they seem certain to lose their most prodigious talent ever for nothing in the summer.

Combined with Lionel Messi and Neymar, the French side now boast the most dangerous trio in world football, which means that anything other than winning the elusive Champions League will be considered a failure.

It could prove the perfect send-off for Mbappe.
