The final will take place on Wednesday, 22nd May, at the Aviva Arena, with Atalanta vs Bayer Leverkusen.

Atalanta: The Road to Their First-ever Final

The Italian side sits fifth in Serie A with two games to go, just four points behind Juventus in fourth. With their sights set on securing a Champions League qualifying spot for next season, it is all go from here. Atalanta’s journey to the final sure has been one to remember. Here’s how it happened:

  • Went undefeated in the group stages, topping Group D with 14 points from a possible 18, winning four and drawing two of their six matches.

  • Beat Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
  • 4-1 aggregate win over Marseille in the semi-finals.

Bayer Leverkusen: The Hunt for the Treble

Xabi Alonso and his Leverkusen side have dominated this season, storming to a first Bundesliga title while going the whole season undefeated. Their title triumph also ended Bayern Munich’s 13-year domination of the league. With the chance to claim the treble with victory in the German Cup on Saturday, 25th May and a win in Dublin, it’s safe to say no matter the result; this has been an incredible first season in management for the Spaniard. Here’s how their journey to the final happened:

  • Topped Group H, undefeated with six wins from six.
  • Knocked out Qarabag 5-4 in Round of 16.
  • 1-3 win over West Ham in quarter-finals.
