‘He was enchanted’ New Arsenal star’s agent reveals announcement date and how Arteta convinced player to join

The Gunners continue to strengthen their squad this January

Arsenal are on the verge of signing Spezi and Poland central defender Jakub Kiwior to bolster their defence ahead of a title charge in the second half of the season.

The Gunners currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League, and after a slow start to the January transfer window they have burst into life after missing out on Mkhaylo Mudryk, who opted for a move to Chelsea over a switch to north London.

So far, they have added Leandro Trossard to their ranks from Brighton, and they are also set to announce a deal for Kiwior, who is believed to have joined in a deal worth 25m euros from the Serie A side. They are also in the market for a right back, with talks over Real Valodollid defender Ivan Fresneda continuing.

And Kiwior’s agent has claimed that conversations over a move started several months ago, and that one particular conversation with Mikel Arteta left him ‘enchanted’ by the Gunners boss.

“Just before New Year’s Eve, he had a telephone conversation with Mikel Arteta, who told about many details, presented a plan for him and what the road to playing may look like”, he explained. “The player was enchanted.”

He added that “Jakub will sign on Monday/Tuesday for Arsenal — he will be in VIP Box for the game vs United”

The 22-year-old left footed central defender is expected to challenge Gabriel Magalhães, who has started the last 52 Premier League games, for a spot in the Arsenal defence.

He can also play in defensive midfield, which provides further cover for the injury prone Thomas Partey as Mikel Arteta looks to bring Arsenal’s first Premier League since 2004 to north London this season.
