‘He scares the life out of me’: Arsenal legend makes claim about Gunners star

Arsenal legend Tony Adams was left less than impressed with two of Arsenal’s back-four in the club's latest outing.

Manchester United and Arsenal clashed at the Emirates on Saturday. The tie was a huge one for both sides in their respective hunts for European football.

In the end, though, it was Arsenal who came out on top courtesy of a 3-1 win. But, despite his former side eventually seeing off United, Tony Adams has singled out two members of the Gunners’ backline for criticism following the game.

First, speaking after the game, Adams explained during an appearance on Premier League Productions: “Tomi(yasu) came back right at the end there which is great because I’m still scared about Cedric. He scares the life out of me so it’s good to see Tomi back in action."

Then, regarding Gabriel Magalhaes, whose marking of Cristiano Ronaldo was less than impressive in the buildup to United's goal, Adams added: “You’re spot on. Gabriel is so concerned about Ronaldo that he’s completely not done his job. The space is the most important there and Ronaldo kept on working him away.”

Arsenal’s defensive cracks

Whilst Tomiyasu returning is a boost for Arsenal as they push for a top-four spot, the north Londoners still have other areas of their backline that will no doubt concern Mikel Arteta.

Nuno Tavares, for example, is the club's only fit left-back at present, but is very poor defensively, and gave away a penalty on Saturday.

Aaron Ramsdale, meanwhile, continues to make mistakes that could easily cost his side a point or three, including against United when his poor distribution nearly led to Bruno Fernandes scoring.
