'He saved us': Barcelona star hailed as star performer after slender Sociedad win


 

Barcelona's supporters have flooded to social media on Thursday evening, to lavish praise on one member of Xavi Hernandez's squad.

The Blaugrana, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

On the back of successive defeats at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt and Cadiz, Xavi and co. made the trip to Anoeta, eyeing a bounce-back result up against Real Sociedad.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the evening's visitors managed... just.

A hard-fought 90 minutes, during which hosts Real created more than enough chances to secure at least a share of the spoils, was ultimately decided by a solitary goal.

The decisive moment was forthcoming with just ten minutes on the clock, as Ferran Torres' clever ball to the back post was nodded into an empty net by the arriving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:

Despite their side's eventual three-point haul, however, on the back of the action coming to a close on Thursday evening, it is safe to say that many of a Barcelona persuasion are not exactly brimming with joy.

This comes with their side having looked completely out of sorts over lengthy stretches once more at Anoeta, frankly lucky to emerge from proceedings victorious.

One member of Xavi's ranks, though, has nevertheless been singled out for widespread commendation post-match.

The player in question? Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Taking to social media in their absolute droves, the Blaugrana faithful have been quick to reveal their appreciation for the latest display put forth by the club's no.1, of course so often the target of criticism across the campaign to date.
