Harry Maguire has responded to claims that he has been fighting with Cristiano Ronaldo for the Manchester United captaincy.
For those not aware, Maguire is the current Manchester United captain. However, it was reported by The Mirror on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo and the English international are embroiled in a power struggle over the United captaincy.
It was added that Maguire is reluctant to relinquish the armband for the rest of the season, as Ralf Rangnick aims to take the pressure off him, for fear of losing the captaincy on a permanent basis.
Rangnick has also called on Cristiano Ronaldo to mentor the young players within the club's squad, which is understood to have led to further friction with Maguire.
Now, however, the latter has hit back at the report on Twitter, quote tweeting the author of The Mirror article and stating: “I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another.
“Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone”
Leeds vs Manchester United
Sunday will, of course, see Manchester United line out in a major fixture, as they prepare to take on bitter rivals, Leeds.
United head into the game on a mixed run of form, but they were able to secure a 2-0 win over Brighton last time out.
Can Maguire help guide his side to a second victory on the bounce this weekend?
