Pep Guardiola spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester City’s next outing.
Man City play host to Aston Villa in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off this week.
Ahead of the tie, Pep discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including why Man City signed Manuel Akanji:
“Yes we had an incredible four central defenders before Manuel. Aymeric has a tough injury and is still a month, month and a half away, and Nathan still has muscular problems. So we could not face this busy schedule with just two central defenders.”
Pep was also asked about managing Erling Haaland’s workload: “He’s 22. Recovers well, when he’s 32 more difficult. 22 not a problem.”
Aston Villa vs Manchester City
Aston Villa are expected to become the latest victims of Erling Haaland this coming gameweek.
The Norwegian has scored nine in five already this term and is not expected to slow down vs Villa.
Steven Gerrard’s side are yet to keep a clean sheet in all competitions this season and are sat 19th in the Premier League with just three points to their name.
City, meanwhile, are second in the PL with the best goal difference by some way (14).
