Gabriel Martinelli joined an exclusive Premier League club during Liverpool vs Arsenal

Arsenal and Liverpool clashed at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

It was a game both sides desperately needed to win for very different reasons.

Arsenal needed the three points to restore their eight-point lead atop of the Premier League and keep Manchester City at bay ahead of a tough run of fixtures.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are now fighting for a Europa League place and began the day in 8th, four points off 6th.

So far, it is Arsenal who are on course to clinch the three points.

Liverpool have had a few chances via Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah. But for the most part, Arsenal have dominated.

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to move Trent Alexander-Arnold into an inverted full-back role when Liverpool had possession exposed the Englishman even more than usual.

Martinelli then turned provider to assist Gabriel Jesus 27 minutes in.

Now, following the winger’s opening goal, it has been revealed that it was Martinelli’s 25th goal in the Premier League, joining teammate Gabriel Jesus as the only other South American player to reach this tally while 21 or younger.
