Frontrunner to replace Graham Potter revealed as Chelsea confirm managerial plans for remainder of season

A fresh round of updates on the developing situation on the bench at Premier League giants Chelsea have come to the fore late on Sunday evening.

For those not aware, the news which Blues supporters the world over had long been calling for was finally made official a short time ago.

This came in the form of confirmation that head coach Graham Potter has been sent on his way with immediate effect.

In a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, Chelsea announced that:

‘Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.’

So, what next for the manager-less Blues?

First, in a follow-up statement, Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali revealed that Bruno Saltor has been appointed the club’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season:

Looking forward to the 2023/24 campaign, though, it would appear that a leading candidate has already been identified to take up the reins at Stamford Bridge long-term.

The tactician in question? According to widespread reports, recently-dismissed Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.
