Fresh alarm for France as Paul Pogba setback throws World Cup hopes into doubt

The ex-Manchester United star’s return has been delayed once more

France and Juventus star Paul Pogba has suffered a setback in his road to recovery from injury, according to reports.

The season to date, of course, has proven nothing short of a nightmare for midfielder Pogba.

This comes with the 29-year-old, since securing a return to Serie A with Juventus as a free agent, having failed to take to the pitch even once.

Instead, a meniscus injury suffered during the summer ultimately culminated in Pogba being forced under the knife last month.

Juventus had since confirmed their marquee summer arrival’s return to training, with videos to have come to the fore online over the course of the last week having pointed towards Pogba being in altogether positive spirits.

In turn, it will come as devastating news for not only the midfield all-rounder himself, but also the Bianconeri faithful, to hear of Pogba suffering a fresh setback on Sunday.

As per journalist Giovanni Albanese, regarded as altogether reliable when it comes to matters in Turin, the former Manchester United star has picked up a thigh strain, ‘probably caused by an overload’ during training.

He is therefore expected to be ruled out for, at the least, ten days.

Majorly lacking in match fitness having not taken to the pitch in a competitive fashion for almost half a year, Pogba’s hopes of travelling to the Middle East with Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the Qatar World Cup therefore appear to be increasingly at risk.
