FPL 2022/23: Best captain picks gameweek 6

Gameweek 6 of the 2022/23 Premier League season gets underway on Saturday the 3rd of September with Everton playing host to Liverpool.

The Fantasy Premier League deadline for gameweek six is 11:00 am UK time on Saturday.

One of the most important aspects of FPL is picking your captain each week. Whoever you select as your captain with earn double their standard score, or triple it if you chose to play your triple captain chip, which you can do once per season.

But deciding on your captain each week can be a very tough decision that can make or break your game week.

With this in mind, 101GreatGoals will be providing you with an insight into the best captain picks for every game week this season.

Best FPL captains gameweek 6

Erling Haaland vs Aston Villa (11.9)

If you do not have Erling Haaland in your team already, you really, really should sign him.

The Norwegian has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and is currently sitting on a staggering nine goals from five outings.

Haaland is also averaging 1.93 goals per 90 in the league, he has the highest xG in the league by some distance (5.93) and he has taken the most shots of any player in the league (21)

Manchester City are facing an Aston Villa side yet to keep a clean sheet in 2022/23. And whilst there is a chance Haaland is rested by Pep Guardiola in gameweek six, the fact he was taken off with over 20 minutes left on Wednesday suggests there is still a chance he starts.

Mohamed Salah vs Everton (13.0)

Mohamed Salah has had a very poor start to 2022/23 by his lofty standards. Yet he has still scored two and assisted three in five.

This makes Salah the 3rd-best midfielder on FPL, only behind 1st by three points.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are slowly finding their feet after a rough start to the season and now face Everton.

Everton are 17th in the league, are yet to manage a shutout in 2022/23, and their record against Liverpool is woeful – winning just once in over a decade.

Aleksandar Mitrovic vs Tottenham (6.8)

In all honesty, Erling Haaland is the man you should be captaining this week. But if you want a differential pick, that could be Aleksandr Mitrovic.

The Serbian has had a superb start to 2022/23 and, if not for Haaland, all eyes would certainly be on Mitrovic.

He has scored five in five for Fulham and also has the second-highest xG in the Premier League behind only Haaland.

Furthermore, Mitrovic has taken the second most shots in the division and has the highest shots on target percentage of any striker who has taken more than five shots.
